Sớm hơn dự định là một tuần, một vài cửa hàng ở TP HCM đã có N900 để bán ra, mức giá của model bằng với hàng đặt mà các địa chỉ này công bố trước đó. Những cảm nhận ban đầu cho thấy, N900 có thiết kế hơi béo, không thời trang như các model N-series gần đây.
Khi trượt ra, để lộ ba hàng phím với các nút bấm nẩy, khá lớn và dễ soạn thảo. Trong khi đó, màn hình cảm ứng dù chưa rực rỡ, nhưng rất mịn màng. Máy sử dụng công nghệ cảm ứng điện trở, tuy vậy sử dụng bằng ngón tay tốt, mượt mà.
Khi làm việc, điểm cần chú ý trên màn hình N900 là góc trên cùng bên phải back lại, trong khi góc trên bên trái thu gọn các ứng dụng. Màn hình Home của máy cho phép trượt ngang, mở các trang ứng dụng như Android. Các ứng dụng đang chạy hiển thị thành các cửa sổ to, nhỏ (tùy vào số lượng) trên màn hình, dễ dàng ngắt hoặc chạm vào phóng to. N900 chạy đa nhiệm tốt.
